JANUARY // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

This week I'm bringing you my January favourites, most of which are things I got for Christmas. I've had a lot to love this month, and it's really helped me to experiment with new makeup, new colours and new styles. Enjoy!

I finally got my hand on one of Zoella's products this month! I chose her pretty polished sugar scrub as I fancied something new for exfoliating, especially after doing things like shaving my legs. I love this product, it's so kind to skin and it smells amazing! My legs have been left looking amazing every time I've used this - can't wait to try some of her other products.

This Nivea Sensitive Day Cream will be a long-lasting member of my skincare routine from now on. It's so good for my skin - it didn't flare up any dry spots at all, it's a beautiful think moisturiser that makes my skin feel amazing, no matter how much makeup I wear in a day.

I also tried out a new foundation this month - the No7 Intelligent Colour Foundation. I love this for day-to-day use as it's so light and creamy. It feels so light on the skin, almost like a primer, but lasts all day and does a really good job of covering blemishes.

Next I picked up the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shades Milan (top), London (middle) and Amsterdam (bottom). I love these so much, they are so creamy they don't dry out the lips at all. They're super long lasting, a great price (around £5 each) and they are the perfect size to pop into my bag for a night out. The colours are absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to buy more of them.

I have two palettes to talk about this month, the first being Urban Decay's Moondust Palette. This is a real game changer. It's so pretty, the colours are amazing and beautifully sparkly, and it would probably last for days if you didn't wash it off. I love the pink and silvery tones.

Secondly is a palette which I saw on a friend first. I had seen the kind of trend of wearing a pink eyeshadow or a red colour across Facebook and Instagram but didn't have a dark enough shade to pull it off. I also had seen my best friend Fay (hi Fay xx) wearing the exact colour I was looking for. So I asked her months ago, and then made fun of her for wearing a palette called Neutrals vs Newtrals, but eventually I bought it and I have no regrets. All the colours are so so beautiful, and long lasting and you don't have to fork out £40 to buy it - I think it was around £7. I'd totally recommend Make Up Revolution's Neutrals vs Newtrals palette.

Next is perfume. I love Christmas because it is around the only time of the year I get new perfume (mine usually lasts so long that I don't need to buy any through the year). This year I got Marc Jacobs' 'Dot', which is a gorgeous sweet scent, but in a grown up way. And the bottle is so cool!

I also got No5 L'eau by Chanel this year. I love it so much and I feel so classy every time I wear it. It also reminds me of my Grannie as I can always remember boxes of Chanel perfumes on her bathroom shelf when I was younger.

So that's it product-wise! Movie wise this month I saw Split at the cinema which was pretty amazing, would definitely recommend it (but prepare to jump a lot!). I also watched Zootropolis on a hungover day this month which was a really cool classic Disney movie. I also finished a show which is on Netflix called Episodes, which was really funny and easy to watch. Definitely check those out! Music-wise this month I've been loving You Me At Six's new album, it's so grown up for them and I definitely think it's their best written album yet. I've also been loving Deaf Havana's new album in the past few days its been out, can't wait to see them live in a few weeks!

Hope your month has been as great as mine, and I hope Trump isn't making you too depressed - in such a divisive time, fight with unity. Thank you for reading and as always, you can find me on;

SUMMER & AUTUMN // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

So after promising to get back on track with my blog, I've lost track again! From now on my upload day is going to be a Wednesday because it simply fits in with my week better than a Sunday does.

I realised it's been ages since I did a favourites post, so I thought I'd show you some of the things I'd been loving since the last one - there's not a whole lot of stuff because I moved in this period of time, so there was more being thrown out that brought in. I hope you enjoy it anyway!

First of all I have rediscovered last year's winter boots, they're my knee high pleather ones from New Look and I love how they look with black jeans or leggings and a cosy winter jacket. They're super comfy and I feel like this type of boot never gets old.

Next are these beautiful chokers from H&M (i'm missing just a plain black one). These are so dainty and cute, and feel so comfy when you wear them. I've been styling these with basically everything recently, because I love that something so simple can make an outfit look so much more dramatic.

More jewellery now, which is weird for me as I rarely ever wear jewellery, but I am trying to make an effort to wear more and I could not be more in love with these adorable, dainty bracelets from Primark. They're so cute, simple and elegant that they really add such a lovely light touch to any outfit, and at £2 who can complain?

When I moved house I was very kindly given these Logitech speakers as a flat-warming present. They are incredible! You can plug them into just about anything as they use an aux cord to connect, and they sound quality and volume is amazing. They're also an ideal little size, and are perfect for student accommodation or somewhere where there is limited space.

I've also recently had my hair done (embarrassingly for the first time in 6 months!) and since it feels so lovely and new and fresh again, hair styling is something I've loved getting back into. These are my GHD Curve curlers and I could not rate them more highly. They heat up so fast and create my idea of the perfect curl. The curls and waves I get from this tong are lovely and loose and so manageable but also stay in place for hours and hours! I'd highly recommend these if you have thin or flat hair!

So for the past couple of months I have been absolutely OBSESSED with button-up shirts of any variety. H&M have my favourite ones at the moment (the one pictured is from H&M) but I also found a lot of really pretty ones in the sale. I just think they're such a good way to make an outfit feel more smart-casual, you can dress them up or down and if you find a good one they can be smart without being uncomfortable! Love love love!

Media-wise, etc. over the past couple of months I have been absolutely loving so many things. One, they added Freaks and Geeks to Netflix so I completely binge-watched that in about two days while I was ill. I've also been loving the new season of American Horror Story a lot - it's so different to the others but so good! Sam Evans (@samevanslife) made a return to Youtube today and his comeback video is insane, so I'd definitely recommend checking that out! I've also jumped on the Philip DeFranco bandwagon and I absolutely love his channel(s).

What have you been loving this month? Leave a comment!

JULY // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

I know my blog has been lacking recently, but it's because I've been living back at my mum's and preparing for university, so there's been a lot to sort out! I understand we're almost through August but I realised I didn't do a post to show off my July Favourites, so here they are!

First of all, I want to show off my new shoes! These are the Nike Flex trainers and they are so pretty and comfy and I absolutely love them! I've hardly taken them off since I bought them and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a practical pair of trainers for leisure or sport.

Secondly is another new pair of shoes - my new Converse! When I moved away from Aberdeen I found that a lot of my shoes were too worn to keep, so I treated myself to a new pair of an old classic - low top converse in white. I think Converse are such an important part of any wardrobe, and I can't remember a time I didn't own some!

Thirdly I have a book which, although I've owned it for quite a while, I feel like I've rediscovered it since moving back to mum's. It's Phaidon's 'The Fashion Book' and is so lovely just to flick through. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous and there are snippets of information to go alongside them about the various designers featured.

Next I have another classic, and something I will be rebuying for the rest of time. It's my GHD Hairdryer, in the Limited Addition Arctic range (I think that's what it's called). I missed this so much in short time I lived at mum's without my belongings - a powerful hairdryer that does the job quickly, which is especially handy for long or thick hair!

Lastly I have this eye-makeup remover. It's from Asda and is absolutely amazing. For such an inexpensive product this really helps take every inch of leftover makeup off after I wash my face. It also works perfectly with my sensitive skin.

So that's it for this month! Sorry it was a late and short post, but there's not a lot of new things I've been buying (or really loving) this month. Thanks for reading if you made it this far, and as always you can find me on;

JUNE // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

I feel like I say this every month, but I can't believe it's favourites time again already! I don't have an awful lot to share this month, because unfortunately vodka and wine were my favourites last month meaning I didn't have much money to treat myself to shiny new products with!

However, there are a few things I'll talk about that I've been loving this month.

First is this amazing hand cream, from Di Palomo which was bought at a local shop in my hometown. I love this purely for the smell, it's absolutely incredible! I'm one of those people who have dry hands pretty much all year, so I'm never without a hand cream in my bag, and this mini size bottle is absolutely perfect.

Next up is a hair product that I never go on a night out without using. It's GHD's Final Shine Hairspray. It provides hair with an amazing amount of hold, without being at all heavy (literally the lightest hairspray I've ever used!) and it leaves such a pretty shine on done-up hair. I'd consider this now essential to my hair-product collection! Love it.

This is a really cute necklace duo that I picked up a few weeks ago in Primark. I love long chains at the minute and these necklaces can really add a bit of sparkle to an otherwise casual outfit.

Finally is one of my all time favourite nail polishes. I've had this forever and it never seems to get close to running out. The colour is so vibrant, long-lasting and doesn't chip easily - truly all you need in a nail varnish. It's by NailsInc and it's in the shade Regent's Place.

I'm sorry this post was so short, but like I said there wasn't an awful lot this month that I've been loving and haven't already mentioned! Going to have a nice soppy post up for you all next week so make sure you're around for that! Thanks for reading! x

MAY // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

I know every month I say this, but I can't believe we're already into June! Where is this year going? I also just wanted to quickly say a big thank you to everyone who has told me they've been enjoying my blog since I started doing it again, it means the world!

I don't have a whole lot of favourites to talk about this month, but the ones I do are good ones, I assure you!

First up is Rimmel London's 'Stay Matte' Long Lasting Pressed Powder. I had this product a few years ago and love how matte and smooth it made my face look when used to set my foundation. The colour matches my skin perfectly and I use this now with every makeup application - day or night! Very lightweight, not at all cakey and super affordable.

Next, I've been loving OPI's 'Lady In Black.' There's not much to say about it because it is just black nail polish, but you only need to do a couple of coats, it's very resistant to chipping and lasts forever, which is just what I look for in a nail varnish - love it!

Thirdly, I have a new Lush product that I have fallen in love with. If you suffer from fine, flat hair like me, then you should 100% try 'Big.' It's a sea salt shampoo (which feels like the weirdest thing you could possibly put on your head when applying) that creates gorgeous volume in any hair type. I find that it is much more effective than a sea salt spray and can already see myself repurchasing it!

Next is a perfume that I had almost forgotten about until I noticed it hiding at the back of my (small) collection during last month. It's Glam Jasmine by Michael Kors. I love this as a night time scent, as it's quite strong and has what I would consider a sophisticated smell. The bottle is also small enough to pop in your clutch on a night out, so bonus!

Lastly is another Lush product that I have only used once so far. It's R 'n' B and is a treatment used to moisturise hair, including curls. I can tell I'm going to love this when I'm having a spell of dry or brittle hair that needs revamped, and I could also see how lovely and shiny it would make curls look. Bare in mind though, less is definitely more with this one!

Music I've been loving this month comes from DNCE - their EP is catchy beyond belief as well as a country/rock band called Broken Witt Rebels - just beautiful music.
In terms of TV/Netflix I started watching Episodes this month starring Matt LeBlanc, just as something easy going to have on in the background, but it is actually so much funnier than I ever could have imagined, and I'm so attached to the characters! Loved it.
Film-wise, it was What Happened Miss Simone that had me hooked this month, again it's on Netflix so I'd definitely recommend it! (I have a feeling it won an oscar this year, if not it was nominated!)
I've finished a couple of books this month too (both of which I'll review soon) one of which was Jim Quillen's 'Inside Alcatraz : My Time on the Rock' and the other one was Jodi Picoult's 'Leaving Time.' Both of which were amazing books that I learned so much from!

That brings the favourites to an end for this month, I hope you enjoyed this post! Also just wanted to mention a quick RIP to Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest sportsmen and icons of a lifetime and another RIP to Harambe the Gorilla (but that's a whole other post!). Thank you for reading! x

APRIL // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

Can you believe it's already May? The year is flying by! The time has come again for my monthly favourites post, here are all the things I loved during April.

First is a product I've been lusting after for far too long! I finally bought myself the first Naked Palette by Urban Decay, which is probably my favourite make up brand just now. The colours are so pretty, super pigmented and ideal for everyday or nights out.

Secondly, are these blackhead remover strips. I bought these on Depop, and they arrived like this, with Chinese writing and instructions, so I have no idea what the brand or name of the product is but they are the generic tar-looking nose strips that you can find with a simple google search. Admittedly I've only used these once around my nose, but they worked like an absolute dream! The only downside to this is they are so messy! Use with care!

Next is this amazing treatment shampoo by Jason. I've been struggling with a dry scalp recently and replacing my shampoo with this has really helped re-moisturise and get rid of flaky bits. It's also super cheap and comes in a massive bottle (I bought mine from Naturisimo).

Origins Super Spot Remover has been a lifesaver this month and something I will continue to buy as my regular spot-treatment! It stops spots from becoming horribly red and angry, and keeps them from becoming sore and irritated. At moments of breakout this gel really helps settle your skin and gets rid of spots quickly.

During March I was searching high and low for a new face cleanser that I really enjoyed and worked with my skin. Many products leave me with dry irritated skin, so I have to be careful with a lot of products that I use. The Aveda Botanical Kinetics Purifying Cream Cleanser is a God-sent product. It's so lightweight, smells amazing and makes my skin feel so soft and clean after I use it!

Lastly in terms of makeup and beauty this month is the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Pot. Again, last month I was searching for a new brow product that I really loved and could use everyday as well as on nights out. This is the answer, it's also allowed me to get much better at filling in my brows with something other than a pencil. The colours are perfect and the product is so long-lasting. A definite re-purchase.

In other aspects of my life this month I've absolutely loved 'Cravings' by Chrissy Teigen, her recipes are food that I actually want to eat, and it doesn't focus too much on being healthy. It's just simple good food. Her green beans are the best I have ever had! I've also completely finished two seasons of American Horror Story this month and I am absolutely hooked! Evan Peters is my new dream man! I hope your April was as good as mine! See you next week!

MARCH // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

I must apologise for this post being over a week late now! My Easter holidays have been so busy! I was back in the Borders last week and totally forgot to take my camera, so I was unable to edit/upload the pictures I had prepared!
To make up for this I'll be posting my March Favourites now (obviously!) and I'll also upload another blog post tomorrow, so that we're all caught up!

Let's get on with it - these are my favourite things from the month of March, enjoy!

I'll start with beauty, including makeup, skincare and haircare.
Firstly is a product I'd never used before and was sent to me as a gift. It's Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water. I think this product is amazing and removes every hint of my makeup - something which I have struggled to find with other removing products. The only thing about this product is it does make my skin a little dry, and I had a lot of angry breakouts in the first week of using it. This has settled now and I think it had more to do with my skin rather than the product itself, and using a bit more moisturiser than usual has also helped - I would definitely recommend this!

Secondly, I'm talking about a long-time love of mine which I've recently re-discovered in a gift set and fallen in love with all over again! It's Clean On Me by Soap & Glory. This is the silkiest, most gorgeous smelling body wash I've ever used and I will never stop repurchasing this! Love love love.

Next up is a hair product I've been using a lot recently, particularly on nights out. It's Mr Dandy's Hair Candy by Lush, which is amazing for creating structure and volume in fine hair like mine. This makes my hair go absolutely huge, which is perfect for curling before I go out, as I suffer from the flattest hair known to man! The only thing I dislike about this is that it makes my hair feel very dry, as if I've used one of those volumising powders. However, paired with a mousse before blow-drying seems to help and the finished look is always incredible and long-lasting!

The last beauty product I'd like to talk about is Nars' Contour Palette (mine is in shade 'Olympia'). I've had this palette since Christmas but feel like I've really gotten the hang of contouring over the last month or so without it being too overpowering. If you're a beginner in contour like me, I'd definitely recommend this as a place to start!

Now I want to move onto some media-related things that I've been enjoying this month, starting with a film. The film that sticks in mind that I watched this month was Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore as a world-class lecturer who develops Alzheimer's Disease. It's an absolutely beautiful and true-to-life portrayal of dealing with this illness from the sufferer's point of view and from her family's point of view. Definitely check this out, but keep the tissues at the ready!

I also wanted to talk about a view Youtube channels that I have rediscovered or discovered for the first time this month. The first is The Michalaks, which I discovered through BeautyCrush (aka Samantha Maria). I love the energy and charisma this adorable family has and their shooting style is so beautiful!
My Youtube preferences this month were definitely focussed on how the videos were shot and edited, and a couple who never disappoint on this front are Robert and Allie, check them out!
And lastly, probably my new favourite Youtuber on the planet is Andrew Kearns. He adventures to the most amazing places, his videos are amazing quality and his quirky and quick editing style is hilarious, easy to watch and keeps you wanting more! 100% check him out!

Thanks for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you return tomorrow for the next one!

FEBRUARY // FAVOURITES

Hi Readers,

This is a collection of my absolute favourite and most used products from February, enjoy!

What would a favourites post be without a Mac product of some kind? This is Sin and is a lipstick I've worn a lot throughout the winter in general, but in particular on nights out during February. I love the edge it brings to a look and think it's such a beautiful shade.
Secondly is this gorgeous hair mask from Beever. It was given to me as a gift in a goodie-bag from Harvey Nichols. Stick this on towel-dried hair and wash it out after twenty minutes to have the softest, best conditioned and repaired-feeling hair ever! I'll definitely look into repurchasing this item.

Next is one of my all time favourite perfumes, 'My Burberry' is such a lady-like fragrance that I've worn a lot throughout the month. This is the second bottle I've gone through!

My ultimate go-to foundation is the Diorskin 'Forever' Foundation. I've been using this for around three years and you can guarantee to always find it in my makeup collection somewhere. I will never not repurchase this because of the amazing matte, long-lasting coverage it gives me without doing any damage to my skin.

February was not a good month weather-wise in Aberdeen. It was pretty much wind, rain and snow for all 29 days. This is enough to leave anyone craving summer holidays, days on the beach and that lovely glow that summer brings. Garnier's Summer Body Moisturising Lotion is a product I use all year round to make sure my skin stays in good condition with the bonus of that little hint of summer we're all constantly craving!

Heel Genius is a product I can't seem to escape, in every Soap & Glory gift box or set I've ever been lucky enough to receive, I've found a bottle of this. This is not a complaint as I absolutely love this product and how soft it makes my feet feel. Especially as the weather starts to warm up and we can all finally make the transition from boots to trainers, my feet need that little helping hand to stay silky soft, and Heel Genius never fails.

This is a bit of a random product to mention, but it's amazing all the same. It's CB12 Mouthwash which promises great breath for 12 hours, and is the only mouthwash I've found to really work for a long period of time without wearing-off.

This product was given to me this month as a free gift (along with a lot of other cool MUA products) for subscribing to Vogue. The eyeliner is exactly what I've been looking for for the past couple of months, even though I don't think the mascara is up to much.

This is probably the most excited I've ever been about a product ever. It's the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow palette and it's incredible! The colours are so versatile and mix together really well, they're long lasting and look incredible. I even use the shades I thought I'd never touch in a million years, love it!

Finally, I used two lush bathbombs this month with a voucher I had from Christmas. I used Frozen which was a really gorgeous fresh smell and Lover Lamp, which is possibly the most beautiful bathbomb I've ever used. It was a limited edition for Valentine's Day, and had heart-shaped soaps and made the bath really steamy and romantic.
